For Such A Time As This

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

"Oh I just happened to be at the right place at the right time," you say to your friend as if by some fluke or stroke of luck you ran into an old acquaintance who recommended you for a teaching position. More often than not, that's not the case. We are at the right place and time because God ordained it to be the right place and time.

My husband and I adopted our three daughters who were born in Asia. We didn't fly half way around the world where we happened to be at the right place at the right time. Three sweet babies needed a momma and daddy, while a man and his wife yearned for children. God saw a need and He met it. We raised our girls in a Christian home and taught them to serve and love others. All three have been on mission trips and through their everyday lives continue to serve the Lord. Did God lead us to adopt them for such a time as this? What if He truly planned for us to raise them so He could use them for furthering His kingdom? Whether it be through missions in a foreign country, serving others on a college campus ministry, or even in the workplace, He would use them for such a time as this.

Looking back at the book of Esther, how scared the queen must have been when Mordecai advised her to save her people in the manner of revealing herself to King Xerxes; that she herself was a Jew. She knew the law and that she could be put to death. Mordecai proclaimed to Esther, "Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14 NIV). Mordecai is explaining to Esther that this could be her time, the time and reason she was given to be the Queen. We read later in the story that God would work through Esther to spare the Jewish people; her people. Mordecai didn't believe Esther happened to be at the right place at the right time. He believed that God planned for her to be in this royal position.

God always has a plan for our lives and He perfectly orchestrates His plan. We may not understand it. We probably wouldn't plan it the way God does, but His way is always perfect. Are you in the middle of a trial right now? Maybe you don't understand the situation you have currently been placed in. Do you find yourself wondering, what the purpose of your peril is?" I recently attended a wedding where the bride had mentioned she had been praying her whole life for this man she was about to marry. God had been working in both the bride and groom's lives in order for this perfect union to take place. Sometimes God works in our lives in ways that we may not fully understand until much later and maybe not even then can we comprehend the magnitude of His good and perfect will . Maybe, just maybe, we are placed right where we're at for such a time as this.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you made the stars and the seas and everything on this Earth. You put everything in its place for such a time as this. Thank you! I trust you, Lord in and through all situations in my life, knowing you love me and will always provide and take care of me. Amen.

Memory Verse: Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 24:14 (NIV)
